What the free tier gives you
That combination is deliberate and, to be fair to it, honest in its own way: it is enough to decide whether the tool is any good, and not enough to get a song out of the building. Fifty credits a day is a real amount of experimenting. You will form an opinion long before you run out.
Free is not the same as royalty-free
These two phrases are treated as synonyms in search results and they are opposites in practice. Free tier means you pay nothing and may use the result privately. Royalty-free means you may use it commercially without paying per play. In this field commercial use always sits behind a paid tier, and at Mubert it sits behind the second paid tier at 32.49 USD rather than the advertised 14 USD.

Free tiers that do let you leave with something
Soundraw generates and previews without any limit and watermarks the download, which means you can build the exact track your video needs and hear it in context before paying. ElevenLabs Music gives about eleven minutes of downloadable music a month, enough to judge it and not enough to use it. When the ten dollars is worth it
Pro at ten dollars a month, eight on an annual plan, is where downloads and commercial use start. It is worth it at exactly one moment: when you have already heard something on the free tier that you want to keep. Paying first and hoping is the expensive order to do this in, and the free tier exists precisely so you do not have to.
If you will make more than three songs, a subscription is also cheaper than buying finished songs one at a time, and if you will make exactly one, it is not. That arithmetic is the whole of the three routes compared.
What I would do with fifty credits
Run your real brief, not a demo one. The song you actually need, in the language you actually need, with the real name in the real line. A free tier sounds wonderful on a generic lo-fi prompt and tells you nothing about how it handles a mother called Grazyna.
Then run it three times before you judge anything. All of these tools vary more between their own generations than the top three vary from each other, which is why every score on this site comes from three runs. Fifty credits is enough for that several times over, and it is the only honest way to use a free tier. Suno sits third on my best AI music generator at 81 out of 100, one place behind ElevenLabs and two behind Udio.
If what you want is the free tier of something you can publish from, that is Soundraw for background music and nothing at all for vocals. No tool in this test allows commercial use without payment.
