Casey Lindstrom
bestaimusicgenerator.com is a small independent site about one narrow subject: software that generates music, and whether any of it is worth paying for. It exists because the first page of results for "best AI music generator" is mostly lists assembled by people who have not opened the tools.
Who writes it
Casey Lindstrom. I have written about music software since 2014, first for a regional print weekly and since 2019 on the web. I pay for every subscription on this site out of my own pocket, run each tool through the same brief before I write a word about it, and keep the raw exports so I can go back and check myself.
What I take from vendors
Nothing. No vendor reviewed here has paid for placement, seen a review before publication, or been given a free account. There are no advertisements on this site and no affiliate links: the tools are named in plain text and not linked, so nothing on this page can earn money from a click. Subscriptions used for testing are paid for by this site.
The scoring rubric is published in full on how I test so that any ranking on this site can be checked against it.
Why this site exists
I started it after an afternoon of reading the first page of results for "best AI music generator" and recognising almost none of it as testing. There were rankings whose top pick had a licensing position the writer clearly had not opened, and free-tier recommendations for commercial work that no free tier in this market permits.
So the rule here is narrow and boring: I only write about tools I have paid for and used against the same briefs, and I publish the briefs and the weights so that anybody can disagree with me on the evidence rather than on vibes.
What this site is not
It is not a news site and it does not cover funding rounds, model releases or roadmaps. It is not legal advice, particularly on the rights guide, which describes what vendors grant and what the Copyright Office has said, not what you should do.
And it is not a link farm. There is no advertisement anywhere on it, no affiliate link, and no outbound link to a vendor. Tools are named in plain text so the claim stays checkable without sending anybody anywhere.
